About Us
 |
In general, pregnancy advice has tended to come either
from pro-life organisations deeply apposed to abortion or from those
strongly in favour. |
 |
Our philosophy is to provide women with a sympathetic
environment in which they can make a well-informed decision, of their
choice, and to provide them with subsequent support. |
 |
We believe that it is vital for a woman's ongoing health and
well being that she is given time to think through any decision about her
pregnancy. We at
support a woman and partner, during and after the decision making process,
whatever the outcome, in a caring and non-judgmental way. |
 |
Our purpose is not to pressurise but the offer time and space
to those facing an important decision and to support those in distress |
 |
All our counsellors have received accredited training
for crisis pregnancy work and they are supervised regularly to ensure good
practice. The adoption of a non-judgmental attitude is fundamental to
their training and we will respect the wishes, and the ultimately the decisions,
of our clients. |
 |
We are working closely with the NHS, and hold
counselling sessions in the Family planning clinic at Danestrete,
Stevenage, in addition to those at Dorchester House. |
 | We are a Christian organisation affiliated to Care
Centres Network who run a national helpline, Care Confidential 0800 028 2228 |
 |
We are represented and supported financially by a wide
cross-section of churches in North Herts |
 | We are very happy to visit professional or other groups in
person to explain the work of
more fully. Professionals wanting
copies of aims, objectives, policies, etc., should contact us either in
writing, by telephone or by email on office@choicenorthherts.org.uk. |
